In with the New
Welcome back everyone! Hopefully you've been paying attention to the Lakers season and if you have, then you'd know it's preseason already! That means the Lakers have been playing and we're getting a gist of what they'll look like during the season. More importantly, we're seeing how our bench is looking because the stars don't get much playing time. Speaking of stars, lets get into who the Lakers signed this off-season.
The Lakers had their media day a couple days ago and this picture was trending everywhere! This is the Lakers big 6 and some have actually played with them a couple years back. It's almost like a reunion, but there's also a lot of controversy with the Lakers being too old. I like to think of it as them being more experienced and wiser. First we have Lebron James and Anthony Davis who are returners and then they picked up a veteran point guard, Rajon Rondo. He's played with them a couple years back and is a 2-time NBA champion. Next, is Carmelo Anthony and he's the oldest out of the whole team at 37 years old, but I think his shooting skills will be a great asset to have. Then, we have Dwight Howard who is a center and will be bring that energy and enthusiasm we need to the team. We just have to be careful with him because he's a hothead and gets a lot of techs. Last but not least, the man everyone was talking about, Russell Westbrook. Pelinka might win GM of the year with all the trades he was able to pull off this off-season. Westbrook is going to be very important in winning a championship this year. Not only can he score and pass on offense, but his defense is also phenomenal.
Along with these important names, the Lakers also picked up some rookies. This includes Mac McClung who I believe will be only continue to develop and grow on this team. Another rookie that has potential is Austin Reaves and he is a shooter. Lastly, there is Joel Ayayi who is a 2-way guard and will be a great player to bring off the bench. Hopefully over the next week you watch a preseason game or two and we can discuss how the team is looking. Their first official game is the 19th, so we'll see if they're able to work together and bring home another championship!
Great Job !
